1 package yeast (2.5 tsps)
1 cup warm water (~90 degrees F)
1 tsp sugar
4 cups flour
2 egg whites
4 egg yolks
pinch of salt
3/4 cups sugar
butter for pan

Place warm water in a measuring cup and add sugar to it, then stir. Sprinkle the yeast over the top. Allow yeast to rise for 5 - 10 minutes until it has risen to the same height as the water in the cup. Add the flour, egg whites, egg yolks, salt, sugar and yeast mixture in a mixer and beat on medium speed. Add water until it is a sticky but thick consistency. Beat with the dough attachment for 10 minutes. Look at it periodically, it will form into a sticky ball. Scrape sides as it is mixing. Cover loosely with saran wrap and place in the fridge overnight to rise (or put on the counter to rise for about an hour - you want it to be more than double in volume). Take it out in the morning and allow put it in the oven on Proof to rise more if needed. Melt some butter in an electric frying pan and using a large spoon, drop the dough into the frying pan so that it's about the size of a pancake. The dough will be very sticky. Once it is browned, turn over and cook through to 185 - 200 degrees F inside. Top the tarkedlis with jam, peanut butter, nutella, honey and/or butter.
