1 package of store bought puff pastry
1 egg
1 tablespoon of water
2 tablespoon of butter
1 large pear, sliced
3 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoon dried cranberries
1 camembert or brie cheese (about 5 or 6 inches in diameter)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bring puff pastry to room temperature. Mix egg in small bowl with water. Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat and add pear slices and brown sugar. Sauté until lightly softened, about 5 minutes, then stir in cranberries. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. Unfold pastry sheet unto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to approximately 11” square, cut off the corners to make a circle. Cut the cheese into 2 half layers with a heated knife. Place lower half of the cheese with cut side up in the center of the pastry sheet. Top it with ½ of the pear mixture. Place the other half of the cheese with cut side down on top of the pears and top with the remaining fruit mixture. Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg mixture then fold the 2 opposite sides over the cheese. Trim the remaining sides about 2” from the cheese. Press the edges to seal. Place the cheese seam side down on a baking sheet, brush top with the remaining egg mixture. Bake about 20 minutes or till golden brown. Cool about 15 minutes before serving. Serve with crackers. Please watch the video before making this dish. http://www.5min.com/Video/How-to-Prepare-Baked-Camembert--Fruit-958941 This is a video that gives the ingredients and shows how to make it. You can use brie if you wish instead of camembert. If you want to decorate it check out the video.
